Dark room - 19/09/17

Today in the dark room we produced some more images with a pin hole cameras, after we developed those images we then proceeded to change them from a negative image to a positive, we did this with the enlargers and then we manually developed that image. The exposure time that we used was the highest that the enlarger would go and that was 99 seconds. The images that was produced came out fairly well, it was a little underexposed so the image wasn't perfect, but it still was only my 4th Pin hole camera Photo.

How to use a Pin hole camera and how to take a negative image and develop the positive of it:

To use the pin hole cameras you place a piece of dark room paper in the pin hole camera (shoe box), make sure that you are doing this in a dark room as it will expose the light to the paper and that will result in that piece being unusable, so handle it all in a dark room it self. Then take the pin hole camera out of the dark room, but making sure that the light isn't able to get into the box yet as you don't want to allow any light to get into the box to the paper. Once you have found what you want to capture aim the pin hole side of the box to the subject, now depending on how bright it is where you are you want to estimate how long to expose the paper to the light for, so say 30 seconds, when you have the box set in the right place and have it so it wont move, allow the light in through the pin hole and count to 30 or how ever long you have chosen to go for. Once that time is up, close up the pin hole and head back to the dark room to develop the image.
The image will be in a negative form and will be flipped due to this so to turn the image to a positive and to the right orientation, take another piece of dark room paper and place it on an enlarger shiny side up, then place the negative image you just developed on top shiny side down, now place a piece of glass on top of the two to keep them in place and to flatten them together, once you have done that expose the light to them for around 100 seconds or 99 if that's the max the enlarger will allow. After the paper has been exposed, take the blank paper and develop it, you will then find the positive image of the negative you just created.
